Enhancing Subsea Operations: Custom HMI Solutions for UTROV's Bespoke ROV Systems

Utility ROV Services (UTROV) is an innovative leader in providing subsea solutions for the Offshore Renewables, Interconnector, Oil & Gas, and Decommissioning industries. As an independent service provider specializing in Remote Operated Vehicles (ROVs), UTROV designs, builds, and operates bespoke UTROV® systems to support subsea operations. With an emphasis on improving operational efficiency and multi-phase capability, UTROV approached us to develop a custom Human-Machine Interface (HMI) solution that would enhance the accuracy and usability of their ROV systems.

Dynamic, scalable solution

To address UTROV’s requirements, we developed a series of dynamic SVG-based HMIs tailored to their custom ROV systems. The key was creating an interface that could adapt in real-time to the diverse parameters that each ROV system needs to monitor, from depth and pressure to battery life and system health. Our team worked closely with UTROV to design a dynamic, scalable solution that could visualize all the critical data in a clear and accurate manner.

The result was a set of interactive dials and gauges that were designed to automatically adjust to different types of ROV systems, providing live readings based on real-time sensor data. These dynamic elements were built using SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) to ensure crisp, scalable, and responsive visuals. Additionally, the HMI was designed to integrate seamlessly with the UTROV® systems to ensure no disruption in operations, allowing for quick deployment across various offshore projects.

UTROV's unique ROV systems require precise control and monitoring to ensure the safe and efficient completion of complex subsea operations. However, their existing HMI lacked the capability to provide accurate, dynamic readings for the various gauges, dials, and system parameters that are critical to operations. The need for a custom solution arose, one that could display data with precision and clarity while handling multiple ROVs and their specific tasks. The challenge was to design a flexible, user-friendly HMI capable of meeting these demands while integrating seamlessly into UTROV’s bespoke systems.
